  1. Hello from the uk! Like you i started gaming in the late 70's with the d&d boxed set. I played on and off through university, discovering call of cthulhu, flashing blades and aftermath by fgu, and others along the way. After a break i rediscovered gaming through gurps. About 3 years ago i moved to a new area and lost touch with my old group (apart from my brother who i gamed with from the start). I now want to try distance gaming using maptool, which is how i came to hear of you guys. Your promotion of savage worlds has hooked me, and i'm now getting to grips with the fast furious fun ethos. I'm looking forward to reading your contributions on this blog, and i've already added it to my news reader. Good luck with the new project,

  4. Having been a co-conspirator with Keith since 4th grade, I can tell you, discovering Savage Worlds has allowed that rpg gaming euphoria to return in my 40s. I must also suffer from some form of adult ADD as AD&D became unplayable for me. I was always the visual guy (maps, miniatures, diorama, etc..) so rules in 3.5 became a blur and managing a character a nightmare. I simply stopped having any hope of playing. I had moved to California in 1999 and flew back each year to visit the old game and get a nostalgic game in. With Savage Worlds, the rules fog had lifted. With Maptool, the games could be played anytime we wanted. Wow, what a change. I didn't have to give up after all. The "Against the Orcs" was the wake up. I was gaming again. And what a wake up. I ran the villagers and sweat blood as 250 running, screaming orcs charged the walls. Using Maptool's macro, I could circle a group (archers) and click the "fire bow" macro and zing, the hits (and many many misses) popped up. Mass combat FLEW and we were actually using the full SW rules and not their mass combat rules. It was easy.

The next evolution of the Maptool/Savage Worlds Experience is to have a repository of campaign files so others can benefit from the HUGE amount of programming work RPTroll put into our adventures.

    Quack,
